Water in the city - Augsburg on the path to UNESCO World Heritage Site?
Augsburg is a candidate for UNESCO-World Heritage Site due to its historical water management system. The oldest water towers in central Europe are located in an idyllic setting on the edge of the Lech quarter. Three monumental Renaissance fountains grace the main boulevard of the old city. From the city hall plaza you will follow the Lech canals through the old town’s artisan quarter to the water works at the Red Gate.
